Pequot for Boys & Sherwood for Girls
Pequot for boys (ages 7-13) and Sherwood for Girls (ages 7-13) provide programs designed to engage campers in nurturing their physical and emotional growth and development, to provide recreational and environmental education, and experience fellowship in new friendships. Boys’ and Girls’ programs run independently of each other with joint meal times and special co-ed programming.
Campers reside in platform tents giving the camper a sense of adventure. Separate living and bath areas are designated for boys and girls, and are divided into units according to age groups.
In the spirit of the traditional camp experience, activities include:
- Boating – rowing, canoeing, sailing, & Kayaking
- Swimming – beginner, intermediate, & advanced
- Sports – archery, basketball, dodgeball, soccer, softball, & tennis
- Low & High Ropes courses
- Off-site camping and canoe trips
- And much, much more!
Pioneer Village for Teens
Pioneer Village offers programs for teens ages 14 and 15 that introduce campers to more advanced camping skills while providing them with some real adventure. Leadership and personal responsibility are at the core of this program.
Campers learn to cook over open fires and work in teams as they plan and prepare for hike trips on the Appalachian Trail, bike trips on the Rail-Trails of New England, and canoe trips down the Connecticut River. These five day adventure treks offer teenagers an opportunity to challenge their limits and develop new skills. Campers also offer their talents in daily service projects, and have fun swimming, boating, and participating in a wide range of camp activities. Separate boys’ and girls’ units house teens in platform tents with separate bathing facilities.
An Additional activities fee for pioneer Village campers allow us to offer off-site trips, as well as SCUBA lessons, paint ball, and other excting programs for our teen campers.
