Sherwood Quote

Sherwood for Girls, ages 7 -13
Camp Sherwood is an amazing place to your summers! There is nothing quite like the bonds you build with your camp friends as you experience the adventures of summertime together.

Sherwood provides programs designed to engage campers in nurturing their physical and emotional growth and development. Through recreation, nature and arts programs Camp Sherwood creates an atmosphere where campers can explore their interests while building character and friendships.

Sherwood girls participate in activities with campers from their age group and also eat meals with this age group in the Sherwood side of the dining hall. Sherwood and Pequot campers may attend some of the same activities during elective periods and also join in some of the same all camp evening activities.

Water Sports
Water activities are high on our list of what summer camp is all about. Our mile long, crystal clear blue lake is pristine due to the regulated absence of motorized boats. All campers are offered American Red Cross swimming and boating lessons. Our water activities include kayaking, funyaking, water trampoline, rope swing, cliff jumping, canoeing, fishing, rowing, sailing, and our newest addition a 100-foot-long water slide.

Field and Indoor Sports
In the spirit of the traditional camp experience our field and indoor sports include: soccer, softball, baseball, basketball, roller hockey, tennis, archery, volleyball, dodge ball, and much, much more! All-Camp events include the Olympics, Scottish Highland Games, and Capture the Flag, to name a few. There are plenty of ways for kids to stay in shape, develop confidence and learn valuable skills.

The Farm
Campers love to join in our FarmHands program. Our farm is home to llamas, goats alpacas, donkeys, ducks, peacocks, cows and more. Children are able to groom, feed, and care for the animals in their own habitat. In the GreenThumbs program campers learn all about growing, tending and harvesting as care for the camp veggie and flower gardens.

Hiking and Camping
Campers will experience an "overnight" each week across the lake. They learn camping skills, assisting their counselor with the set up of the campsite and the cooking of meals. Day trips are also an exciting aspect of camp life. Campers may have the opportunity to spend a day at the local beach, canoe on the Connecticut River, or hike through the Cockaponset State Forest.

Arts & Crafts
Our Arts & Crafts Studios are top notch and always buzzing with creativity! Campers have the opportunity to join in the arts & crafts program every day as classes are offered every activity period. The ceramics & pottery program is a great place to learn the art of clay from throwing to glazing in our state of the art studio. Throughout the summer campers can participate in such creative endeavors as basketry, leatherwork, jewelry making, eco-art, painting and much more.
